Day 13 - Sun 21Apr2024 REDUX - At Sea to Papeete - Day 3
We're in a time warp! The twilight zone. Because we crossed the international date line yesterday, we have to have two celebrations of the 21st of April. It's turning out to be simply weird in a number of ways.
We needed to wake up this morning at 7am to have enough time to eat breakfast and then attend what was labeled as the Interdenominational Church Service at 8:30am on the printed Princess Patter but labeled as the Bible Study on the electronic Princess APP. I noted a number of other differences between the two information sources. So, before I left the stateroom, I phoned the front desk and asked which source of information was correct and the clerk said to follow the printed Princess Patter. So I photographed the printed document and will use that as my guide for today. I had changed my phone to display today as yesterday and that messed up display of pictures and posts on Facebook and email. So I ended up changing the date back to April 22, 2024 even though on the ship it's a repeat of April 21, 2024. Confused yet?
In any event there was a repeat 8:30am Interdenominational Church Service in the Vista Lounge and Ron preached a good sermon on the birth of Jesus. Next on my schedule was the 10am Sue Beard presentation on Papeete which was quite good. She was followed by Franz who gave a presentation on Cunard Ocean liners. It was interesting, but I'm still challenged listening to a lecture being read from a script.
We had a light lunch (my pork spare ribs were cold and tough but tasty. After lunch we listened to afternoon kareoke. 1 Second Dan (named for his stellar performance in the YES/NO game show) sang a great parody of Ghost Riders in the Sky. I was only able to stay as I wanted to listened to a presentation on on Chinese Herbal Medicine. The presenter was Chinese and very soft spoken and heavily accented which made it hard to hear and understand quickly. Plus the information given was way too generic and a marketing ploy for spa services. Afterwards I used the time to update my blog.
We enjoyed a nice Marketplace dinner with Linda & Doug before attending the cast show Sweet Soul Music. It was packed and we had a difficult time getting a seat 45 minutes ahead of the show. Afterwards we attended the game show Little White Lies. For the first time in a few weeks, we got to bed by 11pm. And that was good!
Tomorrow is another sea day and the outside temperature is definitely rising.
