Day 29 - Tue 07May2024 - At Sea to Vancouver, BC - Day 5
Each day has been getting colder. This morning it was 50ºf when we woke up. Per our Captain, we were sailing off the coast of Oregon State. After our customary morning Bible study which was a continuation of sharing from yesterday, I attended Mark Harris' excellent talk on dolphins. Afterwards I pretty much just hung out until lunch we we enjoyed for the first time in the Concerto Dining Room. It was a birthday lunch for Gary, our piano player for the worship service. A group of nine of us honored him on his 70th birthday.
Afterwards, I went to David Klinkenberg's presentation on the Da Vinci Code. He claims to have cracked it, but I remain a bit skeptical. He's continuing to try and raise money to get a series put on the History or Discovery channel. If you want to watch it, there's a video on YouTube. Write me if you want more specific directions.
Angela sang in her 3rd and final pop choir performance in the Piazza. I watched it along with Gary and JoAnn and we visited afterwards. We ended up eating dinner with them in the Marketplace before going to the 7:30pm performance of Fiera which I fell asleep at once again and missed it for the second time. Before the repeat 9:30pm performance, we took in a game show in Princess Live "Read My Lips" featuring the entertainment Assistant Cruise Directors. It was pretty funny. We went back for the 9:30pm show and I made it through the entire show, but i still don't understand it. It was hard to watch from the back of the auditorium. It's an impressively costumed and stage decorated circus theme show.
Before going to sleep, we watched the final episode of the Wake show which is played on the Stateroom TV featuring Olivia the Cruise Director interviewing guests and promoting the highlights of the next day's activities and the presentation of a new riddle. For this show, they also drew from the riddle answers 3 names who won some swag. We also advanced our clocks by one hour to Seattle time.
Tomorrow is our last sea day before reaching Vancouver. 1,000 passengers are getting off of the ship and 1,300 will be boarding for a 3 day cruise to Seattle. The special programming is now all done and the activities for the final 3 days will be more traditional cruise programming. After the Seattle stop, the ship will sail cruises to Alaska all summer before repositioning to the. Caribbean.
