Day 20 - Sun 28Apr2024 - At Sea to Honolulu, HI - Day 2

On this second sea day, I woke up at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep until 6am which only lasted an hour as we needed to be awake and prepared for the church service at 8:30am in the Vista Lounge.  The church service was very well attended with well over 100 in attendance.  Ron gave a terrific sermon on John 9 which is the last of the 7 miracles John records in his gospel account.  Afterwards I attended Sue Beard's presentation on the history of the Hawaiian Islands.  It was interesting but didn't have much new information for me as we've seen many such presentations on previous cruisers.

There was a long gap before Lewis Lucke's next enrichment lecture which was on US Foreign Aid.  It was really good and interesting to hear about the USAID program.  Based upon these first two presentations, I purchased his book "From Timbuktu to Running for Cover" which is an engaging read. I had the rest of the afternoon off from events so I was able to restring my wife's ukulele, update my blog and view my daily releases of YouTube videos.  After dinner, we went to the VISTA Lounge where we couldn't enter the venue until 7:30pm because of a Loyalty event being held there.  Once we got in, the theater had to be cleared "so it could be cleaned.  This was not well received by the audience and Andrew even made a joke about it in his act.  As an editorial opinion, I would say that they clean the LIDO Marketplace without evicting everyone.  Returning 10 minutes later, we got a decent seat and totally enjoyed Andrew Grose, a Canadian comedian. He was super funny once again.  We then attended the 9:30 performance of the production show:  Fantastic Journey.  It had a lot of glitz and glamour, but both of us couldn't understand many of the songs and they made no sense.  This was a show that is at the bottom of our list and we don't recommend it.

Throughout the day, Angela participated in the craft activities, exercise dancing, choir practice, and ukulele lessons.  Tomorrow I'll lead the first of several days of the Bible study at 8:30am.  We are also expected to cross the equator some time in the early morning hours and a commemorative ceremony will be held at 4pm.
